GroupSimulator

GroupSimulator is a companion program to Interact which simulates small group interactions. The program provides insights into emotional dynamics, behaviors, and patterns of domination in group contexts using the core principles and computational predictions of Affect Control Theory. GroupSimulator builds on capabilities lacking in Interact, such as the ability to handle up to 25 interactants, deciding which interactant will take the next turn as actor, and tracking the development of social structure during group processes. On the other hand, GroupSimulator is less specific than Interact in characterizing behaviors and emotions, lacks the ability to switch interactants’ identities during an analysis, and lacks the capacity for interactants to have different definitions of the situation.
